Ingredients

  • spirit

    Spicier and drier than bourbon, made from a mash of at least 51% rye grain.

    French grape brandy aged in oak. Rich, fruity, regal.

  • liqueur

    Italian-style fortified, aromatized wine. Rich, herbal, lightly sweet.

  • liqueur

    French herbal liqueur. Honey, saffron, juniper.

  • bitters

    Lighter, anise-forward bitters from New Orleans. Defines the Sazerac.

  • bitters

    The classic gentian-based aromatic bitters. A few dashes deepen everything.

Method

  1. Combine all in a mixing glass with ice.

  2. Stir 25 seconds.

  3. Strain over a large cube in a rocks glass.

  4. Garnish with lemon peel and a cherry.

About this drink
