Mint Julep

Bourbon, mint, crushed ice.

Ingredients

  • herb

    Fresh spearmint, ideally. Slap it before garnishing to release the oils.

  • Simple Syrup
  • spirit

    A barrel-aged American whiskey distilled mostly from corn. Sweet, oaky, with notes of vanilla and caramel.

Method

  1. Place mint leaves and syrup in a julep cup. Press gently.

  2. Pack with crushed ice.

  3. Add bourbon, stir to chill, then mound more crushed ice on top.

  4. Garnish with a generous bouquet of mint, slapped first to release oils.
