Ingredients

Fresh spearmint, ideally. Slap it before garnishing to release the oils.
- Simple Syrup

A barrel-aged American whiskey distilled mostly from corn. Sweet, oaky, with notes of vanilla and caramel.
Method

Place mint leaves and syrup in a julep cup. Press gently.

Pack with crushed ice.

Add bourbon, stir to chill, then mound more crushed ice on top.

Garnish with a generous bouquet of mint, slapped first to release oils.
