Ingredients

  • spirit

    A barrel-aged American whiskey distilled mostly from corn. Sweet, oaky, with notes of vanilla and caramel.

  • liqueur

    Vivid red Italian bitter with grapefruit pith and gentian backbone.

  • liqueur

    Italian-style fortified, aromatized wine. Rich, herbal, lightly sweet.

Method

  1. Combine bourbon, Campari, and sweet vermouth in a mixing glass with ice.

  2. Stir 20 seconds.

  3. Strain into a rocks glass over a large cube.

  4. Express orange peel and drop in.

About this drink

Bourbon (or rye) replaces gin in a Negroni. Richer, slower-sipping.
